Dr. Tracy Pickett was born in Laurel, MS to John and Julia Evans. She is the oldest of five siblings (all girls). She attended R. H. Watkins High School in Laurel, graduating in 1988. Next, she began her college education at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) in Hattiesburg, MS. Tracy graduated from USM in 1992 with a B.S. in Physics, in 1995 with a M.S. in Computational Science with an emphasis in Physics, and in 2002 with a Ph.D. in Science Education with an emphasis in Physics. At USM, Tracy met her husband, Dwayne K. Pickett. They married in 1991. Their marriage has been wonderful and definitely orchestrated by God. They are the blessed parents of five sons, Julian (Elyane), Kendedrick, Malcolm (Nikeya), Dwayne, Jr., and Keishun, and three grandchildren and counting. They currently reside in Crystal Springs, Mississippi.
Tracy grew up in basically in a Pentecostal church with a twist of Baptist that was classified denominationally as non-denomination. She loved the Lord as a child, and she accepted Christ into her heart around the age 12. However, because of unclear teaching, she was not sure. The meaning of salvation was clearly explained to her from the Word of God by her husband, and she accepted the Lord for real as her Lord and Savior at the age of 21.
Currently, she is a member of New Jerusalem Church in Jackson, MS. Dr. Tracy, serves as a pastor’s wife, a Christian Education director, and a women’s ministry leader. She truly has a love for God’s people and desires that they all know and understand God’s Word such that it is demonstrated in their lives. Her spiritual gift is teaching. She recently completed a MABS (Master of Arts in Biblical Studies) at NOBTS (May 2019) as an online graduate student to become a better and more dedicated student of God’s Word in order to better serve God’s people. She trusts God and places her faith in all that He is. She wants to know God’s Word so that she may glorify Him by completing her assignment in this reference frame of time, fruitfully maximizing her life in order to bring God glory.
